The Mains Smokie |
| The
Mains Smokie is supplied complete with a compact wall or table mounted
control unit with integral high powered flashing beacon, a pillow
vibrating pad and a ceiling mounted smoke detector. The unit is complete
and ready to install.
The small mains powered control unit has a sealed rechargeable battery
backup, automatically kept in fully charged condition in case of
mains power failure.
[Click on picture for connection details]
The smoke detector is powered from the central control unit. The
system is completely independent of replacement batteries. All connections
are permanently monitored to ensure that the system is operating
correctly.
The control unit has a high powered flashing beacon for day and
night time warning and a pillow or mattress vibrator to awaken sleepers
during an alarm condition.
The system and wiring are continuously monitored. The unit will
go into alarm condition should a fault in the wiring occur (short/open
circuit). |
| Operation
When the smoke detector senses smoke both the vibrator pad and flashing
beacon operate to give early warning of smoke hazard. |
| Testing
The test button should be used on a daily basis to ensure that the
unit is fully operational. |
Compatibility
The Mains Smokie can be connected to most existing alarm
and smoke detection panels.
The smoke detector is produced to BS 5446 Pt 1990. The unit plugs
into a standard three pin mains power supply and conforms to British
Standard 415 (1990)
Full installation and operating instructions are supplied with each
unit. |
The Battery Smokie |
| The Battery Smokie has been designed
for ease of installation and is supplied with all batteries and
cable. |
| Smoke
Detector - battery operated.
Battery life approximately one year, fitted with low battery
warning and test button. The battery in the smoke detector
will emit a bleep every minute for thirty days at its low battery
state.
During this period the vibrating disk and flashing light will
operate briefly for three seconds once an hour. |
| Control Pack - battery operated
with test button and light indicating low battery state to give
bedside reassurance that the system is active.
The batteries in the control pack can be tested by use of the
button. No light from the small test light beside the sockets on
the control pack indicates that the batteries are low and require
changing. |
| Vibrating Disc - and/or Flashing
Light - automatically activated when the smoke detector operates. |
| |
The 24 Volt
d.c. Smokie
We also supply a 24 Volt d.c. version of the Smokie for use
with existing fire alarm installations. The 24V version Smokie
is wired directly into the existing system so that when the
main fire alarm activates the vibrator and beacon operate to
warn hard of hearing occupants. |
| |
- Can be added to intruder detection and fire alarm systems
- Units are neat and unobtrusive and do not require an operating
license.
- Pagers: 61mm x 40mm x 12mm.
